A Day in The Life: Spa Day

So this isn’t a typical day in my life as I went for a mini spa break! I wish it could be a typical day but that is not really ‘real life’ unfortunately! But I had a great time so I thought I’d share with you where we went and what we did! The spa we went to was Formby Hall, my mum and I go every year at the beginning of November and it’s always lovely!

We had a package deal which they have all year round and they are such good value for money. It cost us around £100 each but we got an overnight stay, a cocktail each, a two-course dinner, a breakfast, use of the spa and a head, neck and shoulder massage! I think it’s one of the best deals I’ve found we also added on a mud rasul which is basically covering yourself in clay and sitting in a very steamy steam room – it got so hot we had to leave before it was over and take a break! I was a bit concerned the mud would aggravate my eczema but it seems to have worked miracles and I am so happy! As you can see below I took comfort very seriously!

We also added on a light lunch for after our treatments and a glass of prosecco because when in Rome and all that! The evening meal was so nice and to say you’re on a set menu the options were really good although I was really boring and got soup and a burger!

I have recently turned into quite a gin fan and they have their own gin bar at Formby Hall so I had to try some new ones! I went for my favorite – Brockman’s which is like pink gin only not sickly sweet and then I tried Aviation Gin which is owned by Ryan Reynolds – I’m a huge fan of his so I’ve been trying to find somewhere that sells it for ages! I also tried Copperhead but I wasn’t overly impressed. We also had a few Singapore Sling cocktails which are so nice – my new favorite cocktail!

Breakfast was a buffet style with everything you could want – a typical English breakfast, fruit, cereal, pastries – I think they had everything except pancakes but they definitely were not missed. I’d highly recommend going – we signed up to a privilege card as well which gave us 10% off our drinks as well as a load of other perks so I’ll definitely be going back to make the most of it!

I hope you like this post – it’s a little different to what I normally post but I haven’t been trying anything overly exciting beauty wise so O thought I’d let you know what I’ve been up to!

Thank you so much for reading!

Back To Uni Haul

It’s that time of year again! Everything is about to get colder, darker and way more cozy – hopefully with minimal snow and maximum hot chocolate! There’s something about September I love – everything feels fresh and new! going back to uni although it presents its own stresses provides a routine which I crave! Although I’ve loved having a relaxing summer break I am more than ready to get back to it and crack on.

One of my favorite parts of a new year is obviously all the new stationary you can buy. I almost wish I could start a new bullet journal but that will have to wait until January when everything feels brand new again!

Accessorize ‘Emily’ Bag

I mean I had to get this bag because it’s called the Emily. I seem to have not quite grown out of the need to have my name on stuff and having a bag with the same name is just too good to pass up on! I also love the colour, I usually go for a black so I can use it all year round but this mustard shade fits into my wardrobe perfectly so I had to get it! And even if it doesn’t quite go one day it’s uni and I highly doubt anyone will notice and/or care!

Alice Scott Pencil Case

I am slightly obsessed with this print at the moment! Maybe I’m clinging onto summer but it’s so cute and I couldn’t help myself! I would have loved for everything to match but that would also look kinda silly so I’ve just bought what I like! This was quite steep at £18 for a pencil case but since I use it every day I thought it was justifiable!

Palm Print Mac Book Pro Cover

I know you don’t need a new cover for a new year but my marble case was cracked and falling apart so I thought I’d include it in this haul! I got this on Amazon and it cost about £15 which is a steal! I wasn’t too sure about the print but as the only palm print case available on prime, I took the risk and it’s actually much nicer in person than it was on the website!

Pukka Pad A4 Project Pad

New year, new book! I used to love getting these when I was in high school and last year I couldn’t help but think how useful it’d be to have the dividers so although it’s not the cutest I bought one for sheer practicality and it does come in a variety of colours but I obviously went for the pink one!

Another Unnecessary Notebook

I obviously had to purchase some completely unnecessary but cute notebooks and I’ve had this one a while but it’s still available in HOme & BArgains and for £2 which is a bargain! I actually find it hard to get my initial on anything as E is so popular but it was there and I was so happy with it!

Obvious Highlighters/Princess Pen

I’ve had these since last year but I thought I’d include them because who doesn’t love pastel highlighters and a gold pen with a crown on the end? Exactly, nobody!

Are you going back to uni or just have a stationery obsession? I think even without uni I’d still be a notebook hoarder just in case I need it one day!

Dressing Room Decor: Botanics

All my life all I’ve ever wanted is a dressing room/walk-in wardrobe. I don’t know why I obviously watched too many teen movies growing up! When I moved in with my boyfriend I quickly began turning the loft conversion into my own dressing room admittedly it is also a spare room but beggars can’t be choosers! At the moment we have a lodger who is living in the spare room and I’ve been relegated to the study downstairs but this has had me thinking about what I want to do with it when I’ve got it back!

I am obsessed with botanical themed rooms! I didn’t want it in the bedroom because I hate the thought of real plants where I sleep – god knows why. But I thought it would be perfect to do it upstairs in the dressing room! I’ve been getting so many images for a mood board that I thought I’d put them in a post – I hope you like them!

My colour palette is going to be green and white with black and gold accents. I think it’ll also make it a really nice space for when guests come and stay  – who’d have thought a year ago I’d be choosing room colours for guests haha! I’m thinking one dark green wall and then maybe painting some shelves to bring the room together.

I also really want to make a gallery wall and I love these prints I found on desenio.com, they really capture the theme I’m going for – the room is quite big so I have a lot of wall space to play around with! There is absolutely no pink in the house at the moment as my boyfriend hates it (god knows why!) so I’m definitely going to add splashes of pink in!

I love this Eames chair I found on eBay I originally wanted a white one but if this was the right green it would be perfect! You never really know what you’ll get on eBay which is a pain!

I’ve also been looking at palm print bedding but I’m not sure if it’d be too much? Is there such a thing as too much? I might just go with white and add palm print pillows and a throw!

I really love this theme – I don’t know what it is but I think it’s beautiful and I cannot wait to start decorating hopefully it won’t be too long away!

100th Post | A Year in Blogging

This post is so exciting to me! This time last year I started my blog, this post was supposed to go up yesterday but life happens so I’m posting it today! This has actually worked out for the best as I hit 1000 followers on Instagram overnight which in the grand scheme of things is not a lot but to me it’s amazing! For today I thought I’d share some of my favourite moments of the last year and my plans for this year!

This past year so much has changed – I quit my full-time job to go to uni, moved in with my boyfriend, began decorating a house and obviously started my blog!  I have loved blogging and I’m so glad I finally started after saying I would for literally years! Over this year I’ve had about ten changes of opinion on what I want my blog to be but over the past few months I think I’ve started to find my own so hopefully, that comes across!

A Look To The Future

Believe it or not, Emiline is not my name! My name is actually Emily and I came up with Emiline as a way to stay anonymous but as the year has gone by I’ve started to upload pictures of myself and now I want my blog to contain my actual name but apparently Emily is the most common name and I cannot find a decent blog name where the URL, Instagram and Twitter are all available!

I also want to go self-hosted this year, WordPress is amazing but who doesn’t want a .com?

I’d love to do more fashion and home posts. I love clothes and decorating my house just as much as beauty. When I started this blog I knew I wanted to do a little of everything but over this year I’ve definitely stuck mainly to beauty – maybe I’ll change my blogging schedule to different themes on certain days?

One of my main hangups about my blog and Instagram is picture quality. I really want to get better at taking pictures and have them be a higher quality. Hopefully, over the next year, I’ll invest in a decent camera since I’ve already stuck at this for a whole year!

Thank you so so much for supporting this tiny space of the internet for a whole year! I cannot wait to see what this next year brings!

Staying Productive!

I always thought I was quite a productive person – yeah I’m top of the class for procrastination but when it came down to it I thought I’d always get shit done. That was until about a month ago when I realised I’m only good at being productive when I have a million and one things going on. At the end of first year I had exams, assignments, a new job, an old job, I produced two plays, moved house, kept up with my blog and still managed to spend time with friends and family. So naturally I assumed during summer I’d be able to get even more stuff done but in reality, I’ve rewatched the entire Gilmore Girls and got a bit of a tan.

I mean this hasn’t been helped by the heatwave which has been making it near impossible to wear clothes never mind run errands but I have been so unproductive! I haven’t even found time to write my blog posts and have been scrambling every Thursday/Sunday to make sure I have something to go up! I couldn’t figure out why until I realised it’s because I have so much time – when you have time to spare it’s so easy to get into a routine of doing nothing and spend the first half of the day catching up on love island and having a nice breakfast! This week I’ve made more of an effort to be productive so I thought I’d share some of the tips I’ve come up with!

Get up earlier.

Yes it’s summer and you have nothing to do all day but as soon as I have a lie in half of my day has gone and before you know it its tea time and nothing has been done.

Go to the gym.

Or take a walk – anything that makes you get up, dressed and out. Last week I took my first ever spin class and even though I thought I might die I felt amazing afterwards!

Write lists.

The old cliche but it’s a cliche for a reason. When you can clearly see everything that you have to do that day or week it’s so much easier to tick them off without forgetting the important ones! When I write lists I include every single thing I have to do even if it’s the dishes that way I feel more productive when I see how much I’ve actually achieved!

Make sure everywhere is tidy.

This is more of a personal one as some people work better in ‘organised chaos’. You do you but that is not me! I like everywhere to be clutter free and clean so I can get my best work done!

I hope you like this kind of post – I had no idea what to write about this week so I thought I’d just write what I was thinking! As always thank you so much for reading – I’ve been blogging a year on Tuesday and I can’t believe it, it’s gone so fast! I’ve got a blog post celebrating the milestone and hitting 100 posts next week so check back for that!

What I Read on Holiday

I love reading but life always seems to get in the way and I don’t sit and read. That being said when I do read I read! As you can see by the number of books I read in Cuba. Most of the time in Cuba was spent at the pool or beach sipping cocktails and reading a book which to me is the perfect break! I read some really good books whilst away so I thought I’d give some mini-reviews of them!

Mad Girl – Bryony Gordon

I had never heard of this and I’m not too sure what made me download it but I am so glad I did! This book really sheds light on mental health and OCD which might not sound like the perfect poolside read but I loved it. Bryony is so likeable and you just want to know what happened throughout her life. This is her second book and she’s just released another which I cannot wait to read and maybe it’ll motivate me to run!

The Silkworm – Robert Galbraith

As a massive Harry Potter fan, I’ve been slowly working my way through JK Rowling’s other novels. I;ve read two of the Robert Galbraith books now and I really like them, they take me a while to get into them and a while to finish but they are good! I actually started this one a while ago and came back to it on holiday. I love a crime novel – Jo Nesbo’s are my favourite!

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

I’d seen this all over Instagram and I had to give it a go. Everyone was saying how good it was and they weren’t lying! I think I read this on the first day I couldn’t put it down and I was shocked by the ending – I don’t want to give anything away but it really gripped me throughout even if sometimes Eleanor made me cringe!

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime – Todd Henry

I’m not to sure how I made it to 23 without reading this! I’ve had it waiting on Kindle for at least a year but just never got around to it. I’m so glad I did it was everything everyone had told me I’d love! I really want to see the stage adaptation now!

The Girlfriend – Michelle Frances

This is probably my least favourite – I think I’d downloaded it when it was free on my kindle and then left it. I found it to be quite unbelievable and a bit far-fetched. I did read it all though but I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

Please leave any book recommendations below! I want to read a lot over the summer before I go back to uni – wild I know!

My Cuba Trip!

I recently went on the most amazing holiday in Cuba! It was paradise and I can’t wait to go back, for today’s post I thought I’d tell you a little bit about my time there!

First off it is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been too and I cannot imagine anywhere to be as untouched and natural. It’s true when they say it’s like its stuck in time although they do have some modern cars which I was not expecting there are definitely plenty of old timely cars which I loved!

The beach. Oh my god the beach. It was perfect, white sands and crystal clear water with what looked like a jungle for a backdrop. What more can you ask for? A hammock? They had that as well. Perfect.

Cuban locals still use horse and carts and even bulls and carts to transport goods and even people. I saw a ‘school bus’ which consisted of a bull drawn cart full of young children. Everybody looked so happy and content with some locals even saying they have no desire for a McDonalds. I do not blame them – I’d give up McDonald’s for the views alone!

Whilst we were there we went on a day trip to Castro’s (yes the Castro!) island which was beautiful. We snorkelled with hundred of fish – some much bigger than I would have liked and seen plenty of animals including the most beautiful red Macaw – it was like something out of a film!

I think you can tell I was more than impressed by Cuba, the weather, beaches and people were all amazing and I cannot wait to go back and explore more of their amazing country!
