Dressing Room Decor: Botanics

All my life all I’ve ever wanted is a dressing room/walk-in wardrobe. I don’t know why I obviously watched too many teen movies growing up! When I moved in with my boyfriend I quickly began turning the loft conversion into my own dressing room admittedly it is also a spare room but beggars can’t be choosers! At the moment we have a lodger who is living in the spare room and I’ve been relegated to the study downstairs but this has had me thinking about what I want to do with it when I’ve got it back!

I am obsessed with botanical themed rooms! I didn’t want it in the bedroom because I hate the thought of real plants where I sleep – god knows why. But I thought it would be perfect to do it upstairs in the dressing room! I’ve been getting so many images for a mood board that I thought I’d put them in a post – I hope you like them!

My colour palette is going to be green and white with black and gold accents. I think it’ll also make it a really nice space for when guests come and stay  – who’d have thought a year ago I’d be choosing room colours for guests haha! I’m thinking one dark green wall and then maybe painting some shelves to bring the room together.

I also really want to make a gallery wall and I love these prints I found on desenio.com, they really capture the theme I’m going for – the room is quite big so I have a lot of wall space to play around with! There is absolutely no pink in the house at the moment as my boyfriend hates it (god knows why!) so I’m definitely going to add splashes of pink in!

I love this Eames chair I found on eBay I originally wanted a white one but if this was the right green it would be perfect! You never really know what you’ll get on eBay which is a pain!

I’ve also been looking at palm print bedding but I’m not sure if it’d be too much? Is there such a thing as too much? I might just go with white and add palm print pillows and a throw!

I really love this theme – I don’t know what it is but I think it’s beautiful and I cannot wait to start decorating hopefully it won’t be too long away!

Home Decor: Birthday Edit

I love a birthday. It doesn’t matter who’s it is I love it, I love making a fuss about people so birthdays are a perfect time for this. Now I’m not on Kris Jenner level when it comes to celebrations (devil works hard but Kris definitely works harder and all that jazz) but I love decorating and making a cake etc so for today’s blog post I thought I’d show you what I do!

The Cake

Sometimes I love a Costco cake or a giant Millies cookie but there’s something a bit more special about making a cake yourself. Yesterday was my boyfriends birthday so I made him a Reeses Cheesecake. Admittedly it was very sweet but he loves peanut butter so he was in his element.

No bake cheesecakes are so easy to make and there are a million and one recipes on Pinterest I used this one but I’d recommend using an English recipe as I had a bit of a nightmare translating the measurements from cups. As there is only two of us I halved all the ingredients and there was still enough for at least 4/5 people. I got the cake topper/candle from ASOS which is surprisingly really good for birthday stuff!

Balloons, Balloons, Balloons

I LOVE balloons. They’re so simple but they really make it feel like a birthday. Obviously, this wasn’t a party and the sole purpose of the balloons was to make the room look nice when my boyfriend was opening his presents but still, it’s nice to be nice! I got the ‘Happy Birthday’ bunting from ASOS (£7.50) and the giant blue balloon was from the Card Factory. I actually wanted a ’25’ but they were too big for me to carry back to the car!

Now I kind of dropped the ball here as I like all the presents to be matching butIi loved the wrapping paper so much that I got a bit carried away! I somehow managed to line up the stripes as well which made me so happy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post it’s something a bit different to my usual beauty related posts but I love stuff like this so maybe you do to? Let me know in the comments below!
